Interview:
Daniel Scheinert ,
co-writer/co-director,
"Swiss Army Man"
An unlikely bromance that’s both absurdly funny and undeniably humane, Swiss Army Man finds Paul Dano’s Hank stranded alone on a desert island until the body of Daniel Radcliffe’s recently deceased Manny washes ashore. With the aid of Manny’s farting corpse, Hank flees the desert island and makes it safely to the mainland. Unsure of where he is, Hank drags Manny’s corpse through a forest in search of the nearest town. Possibly the product of Hank’s imagination, possibly not, Manny returns to life to provide company and assistance to Hank as they negotiate their way through the forest. In return, Hank attempts to help Hank retrieve his memory. Swiss Army Man marks the directorial debut of Daniel Scheinert (left) and Dan Kwan (right), who previously made short films and music videos under the name The Daniels. They are best known for directing the music video for DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s Turn Down for What, with Dan Kwan appearing front and center in the music video that has so far been viewed 505 million times on YouTube. The Daniels also directed the music video “Simple Math” for Manchester Orchestra, whose singer Andy Hull and lead guitarist Robert McDowell wrote the soundtrack for Swiss Army Man. Swiss Army Man opened July 31 in theaters. Dan Kwan joins Daniel Scheinert during this interview.
