Austin Youth Film Festival
Now in its second year, the Austin Youth Film Festival will be held 9:30 a.m. May 17 at the Alamo Ritz. The festival features short films made by Austin-area middle school, high school and home-schooled students. The festival’s goal is to foster a love of filmmaking among school children. Austin Youth Film Festival are co-founder and Rawson Saunders School technogolist and film teacher Carrie Evans discusses the Austin Youth Film Festival with three student filmmakers, Andrew Franco, Maia Medel and Gemma Smith. Andrew Franco is the editor and camera operator of the short film Ghost Masters and entered a promotional video for this year’s Austin Youth Film Festival edit-off competition. Maia Medel and Gemma Smith won Best Music Video at last year’s Austin Youth Film Festival for directing a music video to accompany Radical Face’s “Welcome Home.” Their music video to Led Zeppelin’s “Tangerine” may screen during this year’s Austin Youth Film Festival.
