Directed by the Austin-based Justin Agnew, the documentary ProGamer examines the emergence of gaming tournaments as a fast-growing spectator sport with a young global audience. Agnew’s documentary focuses on the growth of Major League Gaming, offers an insider’s view of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty tournaments held in the United States and overseas between 2011 and 2013, and profiles two of eSports’ most prominent gamers, the elusive Johan "NaNiwa" Lucchesi from Sweden and the affable Aleksey "White-Ra" Krupnyk from Ukraine. ProGamer marks Justin Agnew’s directorial debut. ProGamer will screen 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Texas Spirit Theater at the Bullock Texas State History Museum and 9:45 pm. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Rollins Theatre during the Austin Film Festival.
