"Riley Was Here"
Written and directed by Jon Rhoads and Mike Marrero, the Fantastic Fest short chiller Riley Was Here chronicles one man’s attempt to gain greater understanding of a personal tragedy that occurred years earlier during a pandemic. To do so, he must cross paths with a grieving mother whose son fell victim to the virus that wipe out much of humanity. Julio Trinidad plays Junior, Elena Devers plays Raquelle. Riley Was Here will screen 11:50 p.m. Sept. 21 and 8 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Alamo South Lamar as part of the Fantastic Fest Short Fuse 2018 Program. Recently relocated to Austin from South Florida, Jon Rhoads shot Riley Was Here with Mike Marrero in Key West in a house that was once owned by artist Henry Faulkner. They also made the shorts Fried Pickles and Buzzcut.
