Interview:
Nathan Scoggins,
writer/director,
"What Remains"
Would you welcome the person who murdered a loved one into your life? Written and directed by Nathan Scoggins, the Amarillo-shot drama What Remains finds a pastor not just trying to forgive the burglar who fatally shot his wife but helping him get his life in order after his release from prison. But Pastor Marshall's decision does not sit well with his son Samuel, who refuses to give ex-con Troy the second chance afforded to him by Marshall. Father and son soon lock horns over the former's growing acceptance of Troy. What Remains' cast is led by Black Lightning's Cress Williams as Marshall, Twilight and The Expendables 3's Kellan Lutz, and The Underground Railroad's Marcus Gladney Jr. as Samuel. In one of her final film roles, the late Anne Heche star as a police detective conducting a possible murder investigation. What Remains will screen at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Galaxy Theatres Austin and 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Rollins Long Center during the Austin Film Festival. Nathan Scoggins previously directed the 2008 faith-driven drama The Least of These and co-wrote the 2013 teen surfing flick The Perfect Summer. Posted: Oct. 27, 2022.
