The "Deep Red" Live Cinematic Experience
Dario Argento’sDeep Red receives the Lifted Traces treatment when the Austin-based collective unveils a live original score for the 1975 giallo cult classic as part of the Deep Red Live Cinematic Experience at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. July 19 at Distribution Hall. Lifted Traces music director Joey Postiglione’s new score will build upon the celebrated jazz-influenced, bass-and-synth-heavy soundtrack that the Italian prog rock band Goblin wrote and performed. The screening/performance will take place on a set influenced by scenes from and themes that run through Deep Red, which finds David Hemmings and Daria Nicolodi engaged in a cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer. Lifted Traces previously presented live original scores for two animated films, 1973’s Fantastic Planet and 1998’s Akira, part of its immersive film series.
