Josh Frank,
owner,
Blue Starlite Drive-In
The magic of the Wizarding World shared universe spreads to the Blue Starlite Drive-In in January with the movie theater's annual Harry Potter Drive-In Film Fest. The Blue Starlite will hold Harry Potter double bills—as well individual screenings of the spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them—now through Feb. 2 at both its Main Screen and smaller Side Show. Beginning Feb. 1, the Blue Starlite gets us into the mood for Valentine’s Day with a series of romantic comedies and musicals, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Grease, The Princess Bride, Say Anything, and Sixteen Candles. After spending six years at the Austin Studios, followed by a brief stint in South Austin, the Blue Starlite moved back in 2018 to the Mueller area to its current location behind the Moose Lodge Building at 2103 E.M. Franklin Ave. The Blue Starlite includes a Main Screen that allows for 28 cars and 125 pedestrians, the Side Show that allows for 8 cars and 30 pedestrians, and a Forest Amphitheater that allows for 60 pedestrians. Owner Josh Frank's new book, "Giraffes on Horseback Salad: Salvador Dali, the Marx Brothers, and the Strangest Movie Never Made," will be published on March 19.
