Interview: Bastian Gunther,
writer/director, "Houston"
Written and directed by part-time Austinite Bastian Gunther, the character study Houston follows the efforts of a German headhunter Clemens Trunschka (The Lives of Others and The White Ribbon’s Ulrich Tukur) to recruit the CEO of a Texas-based oil company for his client, a European car manufacturer. Clemens fails to make contact with the CEO at a conference in Germany, so he travels to Houston to fulfill his obligations. Clemen’s job isn’t made any easily being Texas, where he finds himself distracted by the antics of an undercover hotel inspector (Raising Hope sitcom star Garret Dillahunt). Bastian Gunther previously directed the 2007 feature Autopiloten and is currently working on California City.
