"57° North"
The Austin-based animation studio Mighty Coconut is known for its shorts The Ocean Maker and Pigeon: Impossible and the YouTube Red series Kings of Atlantis. With 57° North, Mighty Coconut ventures in the world of augmented reality games. The preteen-friendly 57° North finds two cousins shipwrecked on a remote island in Alaska. The game requires the player to make the necessary decisions that will allow Caleb and Sasha to find a way to escape the island without succumbing to its many natural and technological dangers. Available as an app for compatible iOS or Android devices, 57° North unfolds through holographic illustrations that are projected onto a separate device called as the Merge Cube. A virtual reality version of 57° North also can be played with Merge Goggles. Mighty Coconut is working on more games; Blue Sky Studios (the Rio and Ice Age franchises) is animating a feature-length version of Pigeon: Impossible that Fox plans to release on Jan. 18, 2019 as Spies In Disguise, featuring the voices of Will Smith and Tom Holland.
