"Nothin' No Better"
![]() Directed by brothers Ben Powell and Bo Powell, the observational documentary Nothin’ No Better offers insights into life in Rosedale, the rural Mississippi city where bluesman Robert Johnson is said to have sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for fame and glory. The Powells follow a dozen or more of the city’s 1,900 residents as they go about their daily business, enjoy each other’s company, or share their personal history. The Austin Film Society is currently hosting virtual screenings of Nothin’ No Better as part of its Lone Star Slate library. Ben Powell, who splits his time between Austin and Mississippi, previously directed the 2015 SXSW Film Festival observational documentary Barge. Nothin’ No Better represents Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Bo Powell’s first film as a director.
