"The Purple Onion"
Director Matt Szymanowski’s dramedy The Purple Onion stars Edwin Li as a struggling stand-up comedian whose lonely life is interrupted when his mother’s friend Jeanie stays at his San Francisco apartment for an extended period of time. Noreen Lee plays Jeanie in The Purple Onion, which takes its name from the historic stand-up comedy club that closed in 2012. The Purple Onion marks the feature film directorial debut of Matt Szymanowski, who co-wrote the script with star Edwin Li. The Purple Onion will screen 10 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Marchesa Hall & Theatre during the Austin Asian American Film Festival.
