"Drunk Bus"
Directed by John Carlucci and Brandon LaGanke, the comedy Drunk Bus takes inspiration from the friendship between LaGanke and Austin body modification artist Pineapple Tangaroa. Set in 2006, LaGanke's highly fictionalized onscreen surrogate Michael (Ozark's Charlie Tahan) wastes away his nights as a Kent State University campus bus driver. Despite graduating years earlier from KSU, Michael remains stuck in a rut as a result of his failed relationship with his first and only girlfriend. After a passenger attacks Michael, Pineapple (Tangaroa, also playing a fictional version of himself) joins Michael's route as his security guard. As they develop a friendship on and off the bus, Michael and Pineapple force each other to confront their current circumstances and personal failings. Drunk Bus is now available for digital and on-demand viewing. Pineapple Tangaroa, who graduated from Kent State University with a double major in Anthropology and Archaeology, moved to Austin in 2005. Tangaroa, who owns the Shaman Modifications studios in Austin and Dallas, also made brief appearances in Song to Song and Puncture. Drunk Bus represents the directorial debut of John Carlucci and Brandon LaGanke, who previously worked together on the comedy short Drone Boring. Note: The Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive will host a screening of Drunk Bus at its Downtown ATX location at 8:50 p.m. June 25 with cast and crew in attendance.
