What happened to Frances Weatherbee? That’s the mystery that writer/director Andrew Shapter’s The Teller and the Truth attempts to answer about a missing Smithville woman through fact, opinion, and speculation. A narrative feature that’s structured as a documentary, The Teller and the Truth stars Lellani Galvan as the bank teller who disappears one fateful night in 1974. Russell Ochoa costars as Weatherbee’s lover Oliver Pearce. Andrew Shapter based The Teller and the Truth on the case of a Smithville woman who was involved in a 1974 bank robbery. Shapter previously directed Before the Music Dies and Happiness Is. He is currently working on the documentary The Road to ACL. The Teller and the Truth will screen 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at the State Theatre and 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Galaxy Highland during the Austin Film Festival. Lellani Galvan and Russell Ochoa join writer/director Andrew Shapter during this interview.
