"Pet Names"
Directed by Carol Brandt, the SXSW Film Festival drama Pet Names focuses on Leigh, a young woman in desperate need of a break from caring for her sick mother. When her friend drops out of their planned getaway, Leigh asks her ex-boyfriend Cam to accompany her on a camping trip. Once there, though, Leigh finds herself unable to put her mother temporarily out of her mind. She also starts to struggle with her unresolved feelings for Cam. Meredith Johnston wrote the screenplay for Pet Names and stars as Leigh. Rene Cruz costars as Cam. Pet Names will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 12 p.m. March 10 at the Alamo South Lamar, 7:30 p.m. March 12 at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center, and 10:30 p.m. March 14 at the Alamo South Lamar. Milwaukee-based Carol Brandt also directed Things Found on the Ground and Dear Coward on the Moon.
