Lead Film Programmer Lars Nilsen previews the Austin Film Society's August 2019 programming at the AFS Cinema. Highlights include the Half Angel: The Essential Cinema of Jean Arthur series and the Sister Street Fighter trilogy. Austin-based actor Sonny Carl Davis will perform his live monologue First to be Eaten: Ramblings of a Bit Player. AFS founder Richard Linklater will attend the Austin premiere of his new dramedy, Where’d You Go, Bernadette. The schedule also includes screenings of Abel Ferrara's Pier Paolo Pasolini biography, Pasolini, with Willem Dafoe portraying the controversial filmmaker, and the new documentaries One Child Nation and Raise Hell: The Life and Times of Molly Ivins.
