Interview:
Alejandro Rose-Garcia,
"The Get Together"
Boasting an ensemble cast led by Alejandro Rose-Garcia, a.k.a. singer-songwriter Shakey Graves, the Austin-shot comedy The Get Together tells three interconnected stories set during one evening at a house party. Director Will Bakke’s first chapter finds recent college grad August (newcomer Courtney Parchment) struggling to adjust to her new life in Austin and clinging too tightly to her roommate. The second chapter focuses on Betsy’s (Quantico’s Johanna Braddy) weekend trip back to Austin after spending years of establishing herself as a success in New York at the expense of ignoring the close friends she left behind. The third chapter puts Betsy’s musician ex Caleb (Alejandro Rose-Garcia) through an emotional wringer as he grapples with his feelings for Betsy, who is now dating another man. August, Betsy, and Caleb’s paths all cross at a house party that promises to change their lives forever. The Get Together is available for digital and on-demand viewing beginning May 14. Alejandro Rose-Garcia, who performs under the name Shakey Graves, previously acted in the Friday Night Lights TV series as well as the Robert Rodriguez films Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Shorts, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Red 11. He will next appear in The Big Bend. In April, Rose-Garcia released a special 10th anniversary edition of the first Shakey Graves album, “Roll the Bones X.” Aired: May 6, 2021.
