Paramount Summer Classic Film Series
The 2016 Paramount Summer Classic Film Series opens May 26 with Casablanca and closes the Sept. 4 with Gone With the Wind. The series, which will be held at both the Paramount and the Stateside Theaters, includes a family film festival, a Hitchcock Week, a 70mm week, a week of westerns, a Lord of the Rings trilogy screening, and sidebars devoted to silent films, musicals, political satires and dramas, and foreign films. The series also includes the films of James Dean and highlights the work of Woody Allen, Charlie Chaplin, Mike Nichols and Robert Altman. The new Celluloid & Digital Sidebar, which offers double bills of films shown in 35mm and DCP, includes Citizen Kane and The Third Man, Labyrinth and Purple Rain, and The Thin Man and Cabaret. Iron and Wine's Sam Beam will host a special screening of Computer Chess by Austin-based writer/director Andrew Bujalski.
