In Austin-based writer/director Brandon Reich’s semibiographical character study The Bob Zula, a high school student drifts through his senior year after his girlfriend cheats on him and he fails to make the baseball team. Worse, Bob feels trapped in the shadow of his older brother Hunter, a standout athlete when he attended Magnolia High School. But Bob Zula’s efforts to get his life back on track constantly lands himself and his long-suffering friends JR and Cohen in trouble with everyone from their parents to school officials to the police to students at the rival Tomball High School. Luke Meissner plays Bob Zula, Nathan Ehrmann plays Hunter Zula, John Harper Reynolds plays JR, and Ernesto Cruz Barriga plays Cohen. The Bob Zula will screen 11 a.m. March 30 at the AFS Cinema with the cast and crew with attendance. Writer/director Brandon Reich makes his feature-film debut with The Bob Zula, which is based on his 2009 short film of the same name. Reich also directed the short films Corey Choice, Prophecy of the Quill, Super Walter, One Midnight Kiss, Boat Days, and The Risk Taker.
