"Being Frank:
The Chris Sievey Story"
Directed by Steve Sullivan, the documentary Being Frank: The Chris Sievey Story chronicles the life and career of the late English singer/songwriter Chris Sievey. The documentary examines how success alluded The Freshies frontman until he donned the iconic papier-mâché mask that transformed him into his famous onstage alter ego, Frank Sidebottom. Being Frank tells the real story of the man whose larger-than-life singer, comedian, and kids TV staple served as the inspiration of Michael Fassbender's 2014 fictional drama Frank. Steve Sullivan directed the 2008 documentary short Magicial Timperley Tour, which captured Frank Sidebottom taking fans on an excursion around the Manchester suburb he called "home." Being Frank: The Chris Sievey Story will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 4:15 p.m. March 14 at the Stateside Theatre and 11:30 a.m. March 17 at the Alamo Rtiz.
