![]() The Austin Film Society kicks off its May 2023 programming at the AFS Cinema with the series "Dietrich/Sternberg in Hollywood" featuring the Josef von Sternberg-Marlene Dietrich Paramount collaborations Shanghai Express, Blonde Venus, The Scarlet Empress, and The Devil is a Woman. Doc Days 2023, featuring 10 documentary features and a package of Texas documentary shorts, runs May 25-28. Bat City Cinema and the American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) present the creature feature marathon Monstr-O-Vision! on May 13. New releases include Little Richard: I Am Everything, Sick of Myself, Joyland, The Eight Mountains, and Master Gardener. Retrospective screenings include After Hours, Party Girl, Suzhou River, and Wild at Heart. The Queer Cinema: Lost & Found series brings Barbara Hammer's Nitrate Kisses to the AFS Cinema. The Doom Generation, Warm Water Under a Red Bridge, and Calvaire round out the Lates.
