Fantastic Fest
Fantastic Fest opens Sept. 24 with the surreal parable The Lobster, starring Colin Farrell, and closes Oct. 1 with the Kurt Russell western Bone Tomahawk. Other notable films to screen at the Alamo South Lamar during the genre festival include Anomalisa, Green Room, High-Rise, The Invitation, The Keeping Room, Klown Forever, The Martian, Men and Chicken, Son of Soul, The Witch, and Yakuza Apocalypse. Austin is represented by The Devil’s Candy, Follow, and Rooster Teeth’s first feature, Lazer Team. Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn also guest programs three retrospective screenings of exploitative films in conjunction with his new book of film posters, "The Act of Seeing," and the accompanying Mondo exhibition. As usual, audiences can unwind after a full day of screenings by attending such events as Chaos Reigns Karaoke, Comedy Meltdown, Fantastic Debates, Fantastic Feud, and Nerd Rap.
