Austin Asian American Film Festival's Online Shorts Film Fest
The Austin Asian American Film Festival’s Online Shorts Film Fest features a Texas Filmmakers block of narrative shorts that includes three works by Austin-based filmmakers. The drama Our Home Here, directed by Angela Chen, focuses on two young Asian Americans caught in a violent situation that is witnessed by a Latinx immigrant who is struggling to make the American Dream work for her. The comedy Pussy Talk, directed by Kim Tran, finds a seemingly romantic evening disrupted when a woman is forced to engaged in a conversation with her vagina about whether to sleep with her date. Lotus, directed by Beibei Xu, follows a student’s efforts to fit in at high school while trying to observe her grandmother’s strict Buddhist beliefs.
