Interview:
Peter Foott,
writer/director,
"The Young Offenders"
Written and directed by Peter Foott, the crime comedy The Young Offenders finds two nitwit teenagers from Cork on the hunt for bales of cocaine that may have washed ashore off the Irish coast. In addition, fishmonger Conor MacSweeney (Alex Murphy) and bike thief Jock Murphy (Chris Walley) have the police on their trail. Sergeant Healy (Dominic MacHale) wants nothing more than to bust Jock for his petty crimes—and for humiliating him countless times in public. The Young Offenders takes inspiration from Ireland's biggest seizure of cocaine, which occurred in 2007. The Young Offenders writer/director Peter Foott premiered locally during last year’s Fantastic Fest and is now available for streaming on Netflix. The Young Offenders marks the directorial debut of Peter Foott, a veteran of Irish TV.
