The Violet Crown Cinema new series Magnolia Mondays celebrates the critical and commercial successes of one of the nation's leading independent film distributors with a retrospective that features eight of its most prominent releases. The Magnolia Mondays series, which combines narrative and documentary features, kicks off Jan. 14 and 21 with RBG and continues Jan. 28 and Feb. 4 with I Am Not Your Negro, Feb. 11 and 18 with I Am Love, Feb. 25 and March 4 with Melancholia, March 11 and 18 with Man on Wire, March 25 and April 1 with Let the Right One In, April 8 and 15 with Jiro Dreams of Sushi, and April 22 and 29 with The Host. Violet Crown Cinema owner Bill Banowsky co-founded Magnolia Pictures in 2001 and sold the distributor in 2003 to Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner. The Violet Crown Cinemas also is hosting an Encore 2018 film series that is devoted to last year's acclaimed releases, including Free Solo, You Were Never Really Here, Leave No Trace, and The Rider.
