Interview:
Natalie Erika James,
writer/director,
"Relic"
Representing the directorial debut of Japanese-Australian filmmaker Natalie Erika James, Relic tells a chilling story of three generations of women haunted by a strange and malevolent force. The disappearance of the elderly Edna (Robyn Nevin) prompts her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and her granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) to search for her in the woodlands that surround her country house. Edna’s sudden return home raises more questions than answers. Almost immediately, Kay and Sam sense something is not quite right with Edna, who suffers from dementia, and that her house is longer the sanctuary it once was. Relic, which was scheduled to premiere locally during this year’s SXSW Film Festival, opened July 10 at the Southwest Theaters Lake Creek 7. Relic also is available for VOD and digital viewing. Relic counts Jake Gyllenhaal among its producers while Captain America and The Avengers MCU directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo serve as executive producers
Please note this interview was conducted before the City of Austin canceled this year’s SXSW and makes reference to the film festival. Aired: July 9, 2020 Web sites: https://www.relicthemovie.com/ https://www.facebook.com/relicmovie/ https://natalieerikajames.com |
