Interview:
John Bryant,
writer/director,
"The Samaritans"
In writer/director John Bryant’s SXSW short comedy The Samaritans, a man suffers life-threatening injuries during a freak car accident in the middle of nowhere. Help arrives—or so the man assumes—in the form of a couple that seems more concerned with saving the man’s soul than saving his life. Mark Reeb plays the man; Heather Kafka and Bill Wise play the couple. Mark Reeb previously starred in director John Bryant’s 2009 feature The Overbrook Brothers. John Bryant also wrote Baghead and directed one of the segments in Slacker 2011. The Samaritans will screen during the SXSW Film Festival as part of the Texas Shorts Competition package at 9:30 p.m. March 13 at Rollins Theatre at The Long Center, 1:30 p.m. March 17 at the Topfer Theatre at ZACH, and 8:30 p.m. March 19 at the Vimeo Theater.
