Interview:
Jeff Bowden,
subject/executive director,
"A Single Frame"
Director Brandon Dickerson’s documentary A Single Frame follows Austinite Jeff Bowden as he travels across Kosovo to find out what happened to a refugee boy photographed during the Balkan War in the late 1990s. Bowden has nothing to go on except the photograph taken by Alexandra Boulat, a photojournalist who died two weeks after Bowden first saw her photograph in 2007 in an exhibition in Dubrovnik. A Single Frame goes beyond Bowden’s quest to pay tribute to Boulat and to offer a view of life in Kosovo during and after a horrifying war that saw Serbian forces enact a policy of ethnic cleansing toward Kosovar Albanians. Austin-based Brandon Dickerson previously directed the Texas small-town drama Sironia. A Single Frame will screen 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Texas Spirit Theater and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the Rollins Studio Theatre during the Austin Film Festival.
