Austin-raised actress Hope Lauren returns home this March for the SXSW Film & TV Film Festival world premiere of the mental-health drama Pure O, bringing with her her costar and real-life partner Daniel Dorr. Written and directed by Dillion Tucker, Pure O stars Lauren and Dorr as newly engaged couple whose relationship is put to the test when Dorr’s screenwriter and drug rehab counselor Cooper is diagnosed a lesser-known form of OCD called purely obsessional obsessive–compulsive disorder. While Cooper struggles with his violent unwanted thoughts and his other compulsions, his supportive fiancée Emily begins to reflect on her relationship with Cooper as well as her ambition to become a songwriter. Pure O will screen during the SXSW Film & TV Festival at 12 p.m. March 13 at the Alamo South Lamar, 2:15 p.m. March 15 at the Rollins Theatre at The Long Center, and 8 p.m. March 16 at the Alamo South Lamar. Hope Lauren, who lived in Austin between the ages of six and 18, has appeared in the TV series The Republic of Sarah, Awkward, and Supergirl as Jane Doe/Bizarro. She recently appears in The Forever Purge and Bar Fight! Daniel Dorr has appeared in Here Be Dragons and the TV series Riley Parra.
