"What You Wish For"
More than a decade after 2010’s The Perfect Host, writer/director Nicholas Tomnay returns with another contained thriller revolving around an unusual dinner party. In What You Wish For, Nick Stahl’s chef Ryan flees to an unnamed Latin American country to avoid a gambling debt. He seeks refuge at a luxurious villa that old friend, Jack (Brian Groh), is using for an exclusive dinner party he has been hired to prepare, cook, and serve. One thing leads to another and Ryan finds himself substituting for Jack. But he quickly discovers that he needs to more than his top-notch culinary skills to meet the needs of his very rich guests. What You Wish For, which marks Nicholas Tomnay’s first film since The Perfect Host, screens at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 22 and 2 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Alamo South Lamar during Fantastic Fest.
