"Oscillate Wildly" and "Interior. Leather Bar."
Director Travis Mathews is currently in pre-production on his new film, Oscillate Wildly, in Austin. The drama focuses on the emotional journey undertaken by a young gay man with mild cerebral palsy when he falls in love for the first time. Oscillate Wildly’s executive producer is James Franco, who co-directed with Travis Mathews Interior. Leather Bar., a docufiction examination of mainstream America’s reaction to gay culture of yesterday and today through the recreation of footage cut and destroyed from William Friedkin’s controversial 1980 thriller Cruising. The Austin Film Society and OUTsider Film & Arts Festival will screen Interior. Leather Bar.—along with Mathews’ short film I Want Your Love—at 5 p.m. July 19 at the Marchesa Hall and Theatre with Mathews in attendance.
