"Ghosts of the Ozarks"
Directed by Jordan Wayne Long and Matt Glass, the post-Civil War chiller Ghosts of the Ozarks finds a black doctor taking up residence within a gated community that is far from the socioeconomic and racial utopia it presents itself to be. Upon arriving at Norfolk, James “Doc” McCune (Thomas Hobson) learns that the townsfolk live in fear of a malevolent force that haunts the surrounding woods at night. But McCune slowly realizes that an even greater threat lies within Norfolk’s fenced boundaries. Ghosts of the Ozarks also stars co-writer Tara Perry as Annie, a hunter whose father died years earlier under mysterious circumstances. The cast also includes Phil Morris as McCune’s uncle and Norfolk’s community leader; David Arquette as a portrait photographer; and Tim Blake Nelson and Angela Bettis as married tavern owners. Ghosts of the Ozarks, which premiered locally during last year’s Austin Film Festival, is available Feb. 3 for digital and on-demand viewing. Tara Perry co-wrote Ghosts of the Ozarks with her husband Jordan Wayne Long. Long and Matt Glass previously directed the 2016 short film that inspired Ghosts of the Ozarks as well as the 2018 thriller Squirrel, which both starred Tara Perry. Long, Glass, and Perry also produced the Brea Grant-directed 12 Hour Shift. Matt Glass recently composed the music for the documentary You Cannot Kill David Arquette. Aired: Jan. 27, 2022.
