The Decade in Austin Film Discussion
The Austin Chronicle Screens Editor Richard Whittaker joins Lights Camera Austin to review the Decade in Austin Film. During this discussion, we look back at how the Austin film and TV community has evolved only the past decade; we dissect the accomplishments of Austin’s most prominent filmmakers, including Richard Linklater, Robert Rodriguez, and Terrence Malick; we examine how sizable cuts to the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program impacted production in Austin; and we look at how the Austin Film Society, the Alamo Drafthouse, Rooster Teeth, and such old and new film festivals as SXSW, Fantastic Fest, and the ATX Television Fest expanded during the 2010s. Richard Whittaker also is a regular contributor to The Austin Chronicle Show, which can be heard 3-3:30 p.m. every Friday on KOOP 91.7 FM.
