"Detective Calzone"
Never fear, Detective Calzone is here to save the day. Or is he? In writer/director Austin Tolin’s Austin-shot short comedy Detective Calzone, Byron Brown’s bumbling cop is this close to solving a case with the aid of his ex-wife, a crime lab technician played by Joe’s Adriene Mishler. Brown and Mishler most recently starred together in 2011’s Austin High. Austin Tolin previously directed the 2014 short film The Dividing; he also has worked as a camera operator on such reality TV shows as Heavy, Quints by Surprise, Big Rich Texas, Texas Car Wash, and My 600-lb Life. Detective Calzone will screen during the SXSW Film Festival as part of the Texas Shorts Competition package at 9:30 p.m. March 13 at Rollins Theatre at The Long Center, 1:30 p.m. March 17 at the Topfer Theatre at ZACH, and 8:30 p.m. March 19 at the Vimeo Theater.
