"The Killing of a Sacred Deer"
In writer/director Yorgos Lanthimos’ unpredictable psychological thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Barry Keoghan plays Martin, a grieving teenager who strikes up a friendship with Colin Farrell’s cardiac surgeon Steven Murphy. Martin’s harbors a mysterious agenda, one that is lost upon Murphy until it is too late. The cast also includes Nicole Kidman as Murphy’s protective wife Anna and Alicia Silverstone as Martin’s lonely mother. Directed by The Lobster’s Yorgos Lanthimos, The Killing of a Sacred Deer premiered locally during this year’s Fantastic Fest and is now in theaters. Barry Keoghan appeared in the British dramas ’71 and Trespass Against Us before enjoying his breakout role in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk as George Mills, the teenager who sustains a fatal head injury while serving as a crew member of a civilian boat that set out to rescue soldiers stranded at Dunkirk.
