Interview:
Alex Noyer,
writer/director,
Sound of Violence
Experimental music takes on new meaning in the SXSW Online Midnighter Sound of Violence, which represents the directorial debut of Alex Noyer. As a result of regaining her hearing during a childhood trauma, audio engineering student Alexis (Jasmin Savoy Brown of the upcoming Scream sequel) can see sounds. Alexis' synesthetic abilities, though, pushes her to pursue the perfect beat through the use of violence. The cast also includes Lili Simmons, James Jagger, and Hana Mae Lee. Alex Noyer previously produced the narrative feature Someone Somewhere and the documentaries 808 and New York Influence City. Sound of Violence premieres 8 p.m. central March 18 during SXSW Online, which runs through March 20. Aired: March 18, 2021.
