Interview: Matt Muir,
writer/director,
"Thank You a Lot"
Country singer-songwriter James Hand and Blake DeLong play estranged father and son in writer/director Matt Muir’s SXSW Film Festival entry Thank You a Lot. With his job on the line, DeLong’s music manager Jack Hand is tasked with signing his father James, a musician with a cult following who has deliberately kept a low profile at a time when he could be enjoying a career renaissance. James Hands may play a musician with the same name but Thank You a Lot is not biographical. Writer/director Matt Muir makes his directorial debut with Thank You a Lot, which he shot in Austin, with a pivotal scene filmed right the at KOOP 91.7 FM studios. Thank You a Lot will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 7 p.m. March 7 at the Topfer Theatre at ZACH, 9:30 p.m. March 9 at the Marchesa Hall and Theatre, and 11 a.m. March 15 at the Vimeo Theater at the Austin Convention Center.
