Interview:
Adam Wingard,
director,
"Blair Witch"
The Blair Witch Project finally gets a worthy sequel from director Adam Winged (left) screenwriter Simon Barrett (right), the duo responsible for A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next and The Guest. Ignoring the events of the traditionally told Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, this second sequel marks a return to the found-footage subgenre that The Blair Witch Project brought into the mainstream in 1999. Set in 2014, 20 years after the events of The Blair Witch Project, the sequel follows a group of six people—led by the brother of Heather Donahue—into the Black Hills in Maryland to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Heather and her fellow two filmmakers, Michael C. Williams and Joshua Leonard. They quickly realize that the Blair Witch is more than just a local legend. Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett shot Blair Witch in secret under the title of The Woods. They previously contributed to the found-footage horror anthologies V/H/S/ and V/H/S/2, the latter of which also included a segment directed by The Blair Witch Project’s Eduardo Sánchez and Gregg Hale. Adam Wingard’s next film is the Netflix English-language adaptation of the Japanese manga series Death Note. Simon Barrett also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Temple. Blair Witch screenwriter Simon Barrett joins director Adam Wingard during this interview. Aired: Sept. 15, 2016 Web site: http://www.blairwitch.com |
