![]() The Austin Film Society's November 2023 programming at the AFS Cinema includes the series The Original Indies: The Birth of American Independent Cinema, featuring Shadows, Little Fugitive, and The Connection. Special events include the New French Cinema Week 2023; the Austin Polish Film Festival; the local premiere of the documentary Breaking the News, about the Austin-based news organization The 19th*; and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with a live score by Austin's Invisible Czars. New releases include Anatomy of a Fall, The Delinquents, and director Godfrey Reggio's animated Once Within a Time. Documentaries include Carpet Cowboys, Deep Listening: The Story of Pauline Oliveros, Invisible Beauty, Lakota Nation vs. The US, and A Town Called Victoria, Retrospective screenings include Blue Velvet, Drunken Master, The Exorcist, Joint Security Area, The Spirit of the Beehive, The Strangler, and the Fright Club selection The Old Dark House. The Queer Cinema: Lost & Found series brings My Dearest Señorita to the AFS Cinema.
