"Bug Therapy"
Where do you go if you are a mosquito who cannot stand the sight of blood? To bug therapy, of course. Written by Austin-based married couple Michael Jann and Michele Jourdan, the animated short Bug Therapy finds the Meghan Trainor-voiced Citronella seeking professional help for her phobia. But not all goes well during the first group therapy session she attends for insects in need of mental health treatment. Bug Therapy's eclectic voice cast includes Jay Leno, Tom Green, Sterling K. Brown, and Dr. Phil as group therapist Dr. Pill. Directed by Smallfoot's Jason Reisig, Bug Therapy screens during the Austin Film Festival at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Galaxy Theatres Austin and 8 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Rollins Theatre Austin as part of the Austin Film Festival's "Animated Shorts" program. Michael Jann served as a writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bug Therapy represents the first produced screenplay written by Michael Jann and Michele Jourdan, who have written several rom-coms together. They are currently working on expanding Bug Therapy into an animated feature. Posted: Oct. 23, 2021.
