"Walking Out"
A father-and-son hunting excursion high in the Montana mountain ranges turns into a fight for survival in Walking Out, the third film by brothers Alex and Andrew J. Smith. Adapted by the brothers from a short story by David Quammen, Walking Out stars Magic Mike’s Matt Bomer as Cal, the experienced hunter who takes his son David (Hellion’s Josh Wiggins) on the trip so he can score his first kill. An accident leaves Bomer and Wiggins trapped in the middle of nowhere with no help in sight. Bill Pullman costars as Bomer’s father Clyde in a parallel story about the teenage Cal's first kill. Walking Out represents the third film directed by Alex and Andrew J. Smith following 2002’s The Slaughter Rule and 2013’s Winter in the Blood. Walking Out will screen during the SXSW Film Festival at 2 p.m. March 11 at the Zach Theatre, 9:30 p.m. March 13 at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center, and 4:45 p.m. March 15 at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center. Alex Smith is a former Austin resident who recently relocated to New York State.
