![]() The Austin Film Society’s AFS Cinema closes its 2021 programming with the Home for the Holidays and Giallo Days series and opens 2022 with the 3 x Lynne Ramsay and The Works of Bill Morrison series. Home for the Holidays, running tonight through Dec. 26, features Remember the Night, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Thin Man, and Fanny and Alexander. Giallo Days, running Dec. 26-Jan. 2, features Death Laid an Egg, Blood and Black Lace, and Deep Red. The 3 x Lynne Ramsay series, running Jan. 6-16, features Ratcatcher, We Need to Talk about Kevin, and Morvern Callar. The Essential Cinema: The Works of Bill Morrison series features four films by the documentarian, beginning Jan. 20 with Dawson City: Frozen Time and continuing Jan. 27 with Decasia with Morrison in attendance, Feb. 3 with The Miner’s Hymns, and Feb. 10 with The Village Detective. The Essential Cinema: The Works of Bill Morrison series is presented in conjunction with the performance Bill Morrison & Bill Frisell: The Great Flood at Bass Concert Hall on Jan. 21 and the University of Texas Visual Arts Center’s exhibition Bill Morrison: Cycles & Loops, running Jan. 28-March 12. Other January 2022 highlights include director Ron Mann presenting his documentaries Flak and Dream Tower and Andrew Bujalski hosting screenings of director Dusan Makavejev’s The Coca-Cola Kid. New releases include Red Rocket, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and Belle.
