Cine Las Americas International Film Festival's
Cine Las Americas Virtual Showcase
Devoted to films made by and/or about Latinos or Indigenous peoples of the Americas, the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival is making the necessary transition from the movie theater to the Internet. The Cine Las Americas Virtual Showcase will be held July 16-19 and July 23-26 in lieu of this year’s Cine Las Americas International Film Festival, which was originally scheduled to be in early May but was canceled as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. The showcase is divided into seven competition programs: narrative features (Attachment, Ciegos, The Sea Within); narrative shorts; documentary features (Dear Homeland, Your Turn, Suspension); documentary shorts; music videos; youth films; and Hecho en Tejas narrative and documentary shorts from across the state, including several by Austin filmmakers. Each showcase screening is free but is limited to 250 tickets; registration is available at https://xerb.tv/channel/cinelasamericasvirtualshowcase2020/virtual-events/.
