"More Than Robots"
Marking the documentary feature directorial debut of Gillian Jacobs, Disney+’s More Than Robots focuses on the trials and tribulations faced by four teams of teenagers as they design and build their entries for the 2020 FIRST® Robotics Competition. Jacobs follows teams from the United States, Mexico, and Japan as they race against the clock to finish their robots using the same set of parts and to observe rules during the event that encourages the formation of alliances as much as it does competition. The documentary plays out against the impending COVID-19 pandemic. More Than Robots, which premiered during this year’s SXSW Film Festival, is now streaming at Disney+. Gillian Jacobs, who starred in the sitcom Community and the films Don't Think Twice, Life of the Party, Come Play, and the Fear Street trilogy, previously directed the “Higher, Further, Faster” episode of Marvel 616 for Disney+. Jacobs, currently starring in the thriller The Contractor and the HBO Max series Winning Time, will next be seen in the short film project The Seven Faces of Jane and the Netflix series Transatlantic.
