SciFi Film Festival
The Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival will run Dec. 1-4 at the Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock. The festival kicks off Dec. 1 with a retrospective screening of the Roger Corman-produced 1980 sci-fi epic Battle Beyond the Stars, with actress Sybil Danning in attendance. The festival's official opening night film, OMG, I’m a Robot, will screen Dec. 2. The festival closes Dec. 4 with the Texas premiere of The Unseen. The centerpiece films, We Go On and Virtual Revolution, will screen Dec. 3. Other features include Battledream Chronicle; Bed of the Dead; Be My Cat: A Film for Anne; Blood Hunters; Domain; Stille Reserven (Hidden Reserves); Origins; Somnio; The Tribe and The Axe Murders of Villisca, which was written by Austin’s Owen Egerton. In addition, there will be a screening of the documentary Ghost Rockets and retrospective screenings of The Island of Lost Souls, the 1932 adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” and John Carpenter’s 1974 Dark Star with actor Brian Narelle and screenwriter Dan O’Bannon’s widow Diane O’Bannon in attendance. Many of the films will screen as part of the festival’s Under Worlds Austin sidebar program.
