Interview:
Charlie Paul, director,
"For No Good Reason"
It’s debatable whether any picture was worth a 1,000 of Hunter S. Thompson’s words. There's no denying, though, that the mind-bending, politically scathing illustrations by British artist Ralph Steadman that accompanied Thompson’s books and articles helped put Gonzo journalism on the map. Director Charlie Paul’s documentary For No Good Reason traces the life and career of Ralph Steadman. It also takes inside Steadman’s studio, as the artist and satirist chats with Johnny Depp and walks through him the process by which he creates his art. For No Good Reason screened during this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will be available Sept. 2 on Blu-Ray and DVD. I spoke earlier with For No Good Reason director Charlie Paul (pictured above, between Steadman and Depp) during the SXSW Film Festival.
