"The Djinn"
Careful what you wish for. In directors David Charbonier and Justin Powell's The Djinn, 12-year-old Dylan (Ezra Dewey) discovers a book of spells that allows him to summon a conniving genie with the power to grant him a single wish. Dylan wishes for a cure to his speech disorder, which he believes has torn his family apart. But Dylan quickly learns that there is a steep price to pay for asking the Djinn for a wish. The Djinn opened May 14 in Austin theaters and also is available for digital and on-demand viewing. The Djinn represents the directorial debut of lifelong friends David Charbonier and Justin Powell. Their second film, The Boy Behind the Door, will debut July 29 on Shudder and also stars Ezra Dewey. Aired: May 13, 2021 Web sites: https://www.ifcfilms.com/films/the-djinn |
