September 2017 Programming
Alamo Drafthouse Austin programmer R.J. LaForce previews the local theater chain's September programming. Series include "Intolerable: Reflections of Bigotry and Hatred in Cinema," a direct response to August's white supremacists rally in Charlottesville, VA., where the Drafthouse recently opened a theater; "SyFy25 Screening Series," which includes a RoboCop movie party with a lifestream Q&A with Peter Weller from Dallas and an outdoor screening of Evil Dead II with Bruce Campbell in attendance; "Road to Nowhere," featuring dystopian films that bring to the mind the upcoming Blade Runner 2049; "Great Scott!," presenting a selection of director Ridley Scott's underappreciated works; and "Wild & Crazy: The Films of Steve Martin." Special screenings include Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny, with the band in attendance, and The Space Between, with actress/writer/director Amy Jo Johnson (formerly Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart) in attendance. R.J. LaForce also discusses the Drafthouse's IT: Clown screenings on Sept. 9 and shares his thoughts on this month's Fantastic Fest.
