Interview:
Katherine Propper,
writer/director,
"Lost Soulz"
Written and directed by Austin-based filmmaker Katherine Propper, the hip hop road drama Lost Soulz follows an up-and-coming rapper grappling with his personal demons as he embarks on an impromptu tour of Texas. Played by Sauve Sidle, Sol’s career as a rapper is on the rise with the help of his best friend and partner-in-music Wesley. When Wesley overdoses, a shaken Sol runs off with a group of rappers touring Texas rather than stay in Austin to be by the side of Wesley’s mother and little sister at their time of need. Sol’s decision, though, slowly comes back to haunt him. Lost Soulz also stars Siyanda Stillwell as Wesley and Krystal Poppin as touring manager Nina. Lost Soulz will screen at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the AFS Cinema during the Sound Unseen ATX 2023 music film festival. Lost Soulz represents Austin-based filmmaker Katherine Propper’s feature film directorial debut. Aired: Dec. 6, 2023.
