Interview:
Aaron B. Koontz,
co-writer/director,
"Camera Obscura"
Every photograph foretells a story of death in Camera Obscura, a horror film directed by the Austin-based Aaron B. Koontz. Marking Koontz’s feature-length directorial debut, Camera Obscura focuses on a former war photographer—suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder—whose gift of a vintage camera leads him down a dark and darkly. Some of the photographs he takes with the camera captures the body of a person who will die of unnatural causes in the immediate future. But the photographer’s well-intentioned efforts to prevent each death doesn’t go as planned. Christopher Denham of Argo and the TV shows Manhattan and Billions stars as photographer Jack Zeller. Aaron B. Koontz, who co-wrote Camera Obscura with Cameron Burns, previously directed the short films Malevolence, Honor Student and Aperture and was an executive producer of the 2014 chiller Starry Eyes. Camera Obscura is now available for VOD viewing.
