"Summer in Paris" Film Series
Still unable to make that long-planned vacation in France? The Violet Crown Cinema presents the next best alternative: “Summer in Paris.” Running Aug. 1-10 and Aug. 15-24, the “Summer in Paris” series celebrates the best and most influential French films from before, during and after the New Wave movement. The program is divided into two parts. “Crimes of Passion,” running Aug. 1-10, features Le Samourai, Classe Tous Risque, Diva and Panique. “Into the Macabre,” running Aug. 15-24, features Alphaville, Eyes Without a Face, That Obscure Object of Desire and Delicatessen. Jon Bowman guest programmed the “Summer in Paris” series for The Violet Crown Cinema Santa Fe. He is a founder of the Santa Fe Film Festival. He retired last year as the manager of the Jean Cocteau Cinema, which is owned by author George R.R. Martin.
